Other ballots ... Direct Democracy.Direct Democracy, neverendums and electronic voting? If direct democracy is electronic voting, then it's an open invitation to the worst kind of fraud. One person can hold up a piece a paper that his computer printed out, and say "I won". If direct democracy is an endless stream of yes/no referendums, the average voter does not have time for that. We will get tired of it too. Before long no one will be watching. I believe that if somebody wants to change things, tell them to form a political party. Save up a few things, We'll even set aside some time for parties to explain their wonderful plans to us. Then we can all vote on them in an election where thousands of people are involved in the democratic process of polling stations and ballot boxes and vote counting. |
